The next poem we are memorizing is The Swing by Robert Louis Stevenson. I made a short video to help my kids memorize it. Here it is:
As usual, I made the different materials I make to help us with the poem. When you download the file you will find the written poem with pictures to help you recall the words for the poem.
You will also find a sheet with just the pictures.
My kids enjoy coloring, so there are a couple of coloring sheets. 🙂 I also use the coloring sheets while I am reading our History book. This way they can be sitting doing something while I read our chapter. It really helps!
Finally, you will find the picture cards to put them in order as you recite the poem. I added a little number on the left bottom corner. The numbers represent the stanzas in the poem. So number one is the first stanza, number two is the second stanza and number 3 is the third stanza. I did this because it is easier to sort the cards once we have them all out.
I have one last thing to share with you. I found the poem put to a song. I think it is a beautiful song! I have been singing it non-stop. 🙂 I have my kids watch the spoken video in the morning and the song in the afternoon, or during lunch. What do you think of this song?
