This year we will be memorizing a lot of Scripture. Our community (local co-op) has chosen to use the ESV translation. Each grade has a list of Bible verses they will memorize throughout the year.
I have created a few resources to use with my children in order to help them memorize the verses.
The first idea is to cut up the verse into strips. We lay the strips on the floor or table and they have to put them in the correct order. My kids really like doing this activity.
The next activity is very similar to the previous one, but the verse is arranged in cards instead of strips. We alternate these so each day they are doing something different.
The following activity is copy work. I made two sheets for copy work. One with the dashed lines and one with just a solid line. Younger students still need the dashed lines to help them with handwriting, but I know the older students don’t. I am not asking my kids to copy the entire verse in one day. It would be a bit too much for them, so they are doing one line a day. You know your child and how much they can do, so you decide what works best for your family. 🙂
The last activity we usually use it on Fridays. It is a way for me to check if my children have memorized the verse. It is a cut and paste activity. It looks just like the review strips but the pictures are in black and white. The children need to cut out the strips and paste them on the sheet in the correct order.
I have made a short video explaining the activities above.
I will be adding a new link to this post each week with the files for each verse. I will not upload a new post for each verse, so make sure to come back to this post every week and scroll down to see the new verse and download the file. Let’s get our kids learning the Word of God and storing life in their hearts!

Hi, Grismar! Thank you for your post! I found your “About Us” page soooo interesting. We have a 20 month old son and are already tipping our toes in the world of homeschooling! God leads us in mighty ways! Anyway, I wanted to let you know about another Bible memory resource for you and your kids–www.ScriptureTyper.com. My husband developed it several years ago for our family, but it has become one of the top Bible memory websites. An iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch app is also available with an Android app coming soon. The website syncs with the app, so you can memorize anytime, anywhere! Hope it blesses you and your family! McKenzie
